One of the principle issues faced by many of my clients is the struggle for spiritual fulfillment. This quest has many names, including the quest for authentic self, self knowledge, self love, inner peace, consciousness, awakening, enlightenment, spirit, etc. Today we have thousands of resources at our disposal: books, CD's, DVD's, workshops, blogs, chat groups, spiritual coaches, television shows... Unlike many years ago, this journey need not be a lonely one; today, we are blessed with a vast treasure chest of tools and resources.
For those who have pursued the spiritual path for some time and are seeking answers to serious questions such as Why are we here? What is this world in which we live? Is true peace possible? For those who would, once and for all, like an answer that has an absolute sense to it and will not lead to more of the same unanswered and unanswerable questions, A Course in Miracles (ACIM) may be for you. Making Peace with God is the story of my journey with this incredible teaching.
A Challenging Spirituality
As was the case with many other seekers over the past 25 years, I was aware of ACIM, but had found it too difficult to even read, let alone understand. The Disappearance of the Universe, by Gary Renard (DU) was the perfect introduction to this teaching. Read my review of DU. For me, as I wrote in Making Peace with God, DU was the help I needed to begin my journey with the Course.
Since embarking on my Course in Miracles journey, I have found it unnecessary to continue scouring the spiritual buffet line in search of truth. A Course in Miracles pretty much laid it all out for me. Although the Course challenged everything I had previously been taught and everything I believed, I found it to be refreshingly absolute and logical. For that, and many other reasons, I decided to focus my spiritual quest on the study and integration of the Course's teachings. I have been relieved of the tremendous burden and disappointment of seeking and not finding answers.
If you should happen to embark on this same journey and feel the need to share with others, please feel free to contact me. I moderate a small group of students who get together once a week at my home in the Montreal West Island area where we listen to lectures and share experiences as we learn to integrate the Course's teachings.
