Making Peace with God is the story of my lifelong quest for truth, and in particular, for peace. It may not be my most popular book, but it is the closest to my heart and has certainly been a labour of love, with the emphasis on labour. One of my favourite quotes from A Course in Miracles sums up this process: The Journey that we undertake together is the exchange of dark for light, of ignorance for understanding. (T-14.VI.1.1)
To journey with the incredible teachings of ACIM is truly to have one’s perceptions turned from darkness to light. Since beginning this journey, the way I look at the world, and the way in which I deal with the circumstances of my life has changed dramatically. Making Peace with God is the story of that journey.
Another holiday season is upon us, and, as in years past, most of us will soon be scrambling for gifts for our loved ones. Of course, we all promised to not spend too much, given that we are still feeling the pinch of the recent economic crunch. Yet, despite our best intentions, even though we can’t really afford it, we will no doubt indulge our consumeristic compulsions. Amidst the hype, the noise and the frenzy, we somehow manage to forget that the very best gifts are free. Of course, you know this to be true, yet perhaps a little reminding will help. In many cultures around the world, the winter solstice has traditionally been welcomed as a time of hope and renewal. The sun’s rays nod once again toward the darkened northern skies as the earth turns the corner in yet another yearly orbit, bringing longer days and, soon, a new growing season. Given the intimate relationship between man and nature, this was perceived as an auspicious time to be celebrated. Communities congregated, shared in the year’s harvest, stayed warm together, and made plans for the next season. Continue reading Make this Holiday Season Different
A few people have asked me “How can I practise astrology if it’s all an illusion?” Would you ask the same question if I practised medicine? Would you then say, why bother treating bodies since we are not really here? If I were a contractor, would you ask why I build homes, since we are really spirit and don’t really need shelter? Would you ask the question if I were a mailman? A web designer? A fireman? A Taxi driver? Continue reading ACIM and your day job
I think it’s Seth Godin who says: “Your book is not for everyone.” This is certainly true of Making Peace with God! I’m actually quite fine with that. In fact, this book was written mostly for my own healing, as I navigated the incredibly challenging, yet profound and life altering text and workbook lessons of A Course in Miracles. Why then did I pursue this path if it was so challenging? Because it is the work that finally gave me the answers I had been seeking all my life. Continue reading A challenging, but oh, so rewarding journey!
This is Bubby! He was like my shadow, always by my side, on my desk while I worked, tucked up against me while I slept. I nursed him back to health when he fell ill once, using reiki and Bach Flower remedies. But the last time, I wasn’t successful. For those who have read Making Peace with God, or those who consulted me in my office, you know how I felt about him, and how I weapt when he passed away. It took a few months, but I finally understdood. The loss of a loved one–person, cat, dog–it doesn’t really matter, is always a symbol of the loss of our true home, the result of having decided to split ourselves off from God, the choice for separation. This is the true reason for our profound grief.
Last night, I had the opportunity to share the launch of Making Peace with God with 2 dear friends who also celebrated their works: Liliana De Leo and the opening of her beautiful Living Laughter Centre and Bhaskar Goswami with the release of his wonderful CD, Open Yoga for Every Body.
