Another Isolating Number 7 Month!

Well, it’s another number 7 Personal Month for me, which makes me want to burrow, curl up with a good book or hibernate until spring! Instead, I’m learning a new program, so I can be more effective in my what else … work! I’ve taken it upon myself to learn InDesign CS4–argh! Hopefully, next month, a number 8 Personal Month, I will be able to put my manuscript together and order a review copy. At least that’s the plan; in December, my last number 8 Month, I was swamped with consultations, and did not even have the time to post to this blog. Considering that this is a 6 Personal Year for me, the 6 and 7 combination is a little unusual. I am pulled between my responsibilities [6] and my desire for solitude [7]. Knowledge of my personal numbers makes it a lot easier to understand the different energies at work in my life.

Sorting Out December and January Personal Month Numbers

I have noticed in workshops that some people get a little bit confused when it comes to calculating their Personal Month number for January. Note that the numbers do not follow from December into January! (See table below.)

Let’s take a minute to review the calculations. To find out your Personal Month number for any given month, add your Personal Year number to the calendar month number. For example, if your Personal Year number for 2009 is 1, to obtain your Personal Month number for January you would add 1 plus 1, for a result of 2. Your Personal Month number for January would be 2.  Note that if your Personal Year number for 2008 was a 9, your Personal Month number for December was a 3 (9 + 3; December being a 3 month: 12 reduces to 3). Your Personal Month number for January 2009 is a 2. So your Personal Month numbers do not follow from December to January.

When to Set Long, Medium and Short Term Goals

You have probably by now heard more than your share of New Year planning tips, tricks and recommendations from experts in all walks of life. Now is the time to use some of that newly fired inspiration to lay out a plan that is unique to where you are at this time in your life.  One of the keys to experiencing personal success is to set goals that are not only realistic and in keeping with your talents, skills, abilities and opportunities, but also in keeping with your personal trends.

If you have been using the 9 Year Cycle from numerology as a guide to having a clearer sense of personal direction, you are no doubt one step ahead of your friends who do not use this information. They say that information is power; your 9 Year Cycle provides you with incredibly valuable and powerful information which you can use to make a more effective plan for yourself. (See the 9 Seasons of Success for instructions on how to calculate your Personal Year Number.)

Long Term Goals

Taking note of where you are in your 9 Year Cycle will make it easier for you to tailor a plan that is powerful and effective. For example, if you are in one of the first three years, the 1,2, or 3 Personal Year, you will be in a position to work on long-term goals, perhaps prepare for a bigger or broader challenge in your life, something for which you can aim and for which time is on your side. Now is the time to look ahead. It’s okay to dream big. Actually, it can be very inspiring now to dig deep inside and pull out all those wonderful ideas and big hopes and dreams you may not have had time for over the past several years.

Medium Term Goals

If you are in the middle three years of your cycle, that is in a 4, 5, or 6 Personal Year, you will want to spend time, effort, and energy on the actual productive phase of your long-term goals. In the middle years, it is helpful to focus on foundation, structure and the overall establishment of your goals and projects. You are now in the thick of it. It’s time to start doing rather than thinking and planning. Your goals now should be concrete and measurable.

Short Term Goals

If you are in the final third of your 9 Year Cycle, that is in a 7, 8, 9 Personal Year, it becomes increasingly important for you to focus on bringing your goals and projects to completion. This means that your objectives should be more immediate; you should certainly focus on what is achievable.

One of the keys to success is to incorporate a regular regimen of successes and accomplishments into your life. At this later part of your 9 Year Cycle, you want to cram in as many accomplishments as possible. Given your increased level of knowledge, and experience, you may be inspired to think ahead to some new long-term goals. However this is not the time to be focusing on the long-term. Focus on the short term. focus on results. Focus on accomplishment. Now is the time to bring it home!

No matter where you are in your cycle, I wish you happy planning and every success for 2009.

The Studious Seven

Well, at the end of a number 7 Personal Month, I feel as though I’m just coming out of a mind bubble of sorts! Being in a number 5 Personal Year, I was quite prepared and ready to expand my horizons and learn new things. However, the thing about the number 5, is that it is very difficult to anticipate exactly what the new things will actually be!

Following my health wakeup call of October, where the pain returned to my shoulders and arms (too much computer!) I decided to do a little research in the Internet (causing more pain!). Fortunately, it didn’t take long before I found answers, and in particular, I discovered a book called Hanna Somatics (Somatics: Reawakening The Mind’s Control Of Movement, Flexibility, And Health). ( This is a very “7ish” type of practice, done quietly, without music or distractions, with a focus on inner sensations. It was just what I needed. With rest, study and lots of practice, my body is starting to move again.

While taking time off from the computer, naturally, I had to do something else… so I undertook to brush up on my very rusty photography skills, learning about lighting and especially, learning how to use my digital camera. I have even stopped considering my old SLR (with film!) to be my “real” camera. Yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks! Again, photography is a very quiet, isolated activity, very 7 in character.

I also undertook to reread the Text and redo the Workbook Lessons of A Course in Miracles, something I didn’t think I would undertake for quite some time, given how much I had been challenged first time around. However, after nearly 4 years since I first began to study this daunting work, this time around, it makes a heck of a lot more sense. The process through which A Course a Miracles leads its student is very personal and extremely profound, another very “7ish” type of activity. Having taken a month-long break from working on my latest book, this too was exactly what I needed.

Who would have thought! :-)

October: Preview of your next Year

Personal Month Table

Table from page 53 of The Power of Time

If you’ve calculated your Personal Month numbers for the year, you may have noticed that the numeric value for October is the same as your Personal Year number for next year. If you play around with the numbers a bit, you’ll see that this is the case every year. For example, if you are in a number 1 Personal Year, October was a number 2 Personal Month, the same number as your next Personal Year.

In a way, October is like a preview month for your next year. I have found that many people tend to get anxious for change as autumn rolls around. They often have had their fill of the current personal year’s energy, and are ready for something different.

However, be careful of what you wish for! Most people have certain numbers with which they are more comfortable, and others which they’d rather never again encounter in their lives! Someone just completing a hard-working, detail-oriented, demanding number 4 Personal Year will be anxious to move forward into a number 5 Personal Year of change, freedom and adventure. However, I’ve seen a few people eagerly run out of a 4 Year and dive into a 5 Year without a proper plan, and head into over zealous and costly adventure!

All in all, I have found that the best strategy is to take what you have learned from the year you are leaving behind, then try to fit these lessons into your new year. There is a progression of learning and experience from one year to the next throughout the complete 9 Year Cycle.

The energy of the new year sometimes takes a couple of months to kick in. In fact, only one year begins with a number 1 Personal Month, and that is the 9 Personal Year. Very often, there is business from the previous year that needs to be wrapped up before you can fully take advantage of the energy of the new year.

To gain a bit of insight as to what 2009 will bring for you, look back at your experience of this past October. What was the general tone of the month? What experiences stood out in that month? Now project that experience into your next year. Modify your outlook, if necessary. For example, if you are heading into a 7 Personal Year, be prepared to feel a bit reclusive. This would be a great year to plan a little study, or time for yourself. If you are heading into a number 2 Personal Year, be prepared to take an honest look at personal relationships, etc…

October was a number 6 Personal Month for me, increasing the level of responsability in my work and family life. As expected, I received lots of calls from clients and family members. The 6 is also associated with health issues, finding balance in life. I scheduled massages and had to take lots of breaks from my work. Years of work with the computer have limited my arm and shoulder movement. The 6 Personal Month was the ideal time to spend some time on flexibility and stretching.

Romance by the Numbers

I had the pleasure of acting as consultant in C.J. Carmichael’s recent Harlequin Super Romance, Christmas with Daddy. The heroine, Bridget, is a professional astrologer-numerologist. With the help of numerology, she points a reluctant (but very handsome and manly) detective Nick Gray in the right direction when he is at a loss as to how to find a missing teen. Here’s a snip from the intro:

Detective Nick Gray loves his baby daughter, Mandy. But he’s used to solving crimes–not changing diapers! So when he has sudden custody of Mandy, Nick is totally out of his element. Luckily his neighbor, Bridget Humphrey, is there to lend a hand.

Bridget has had feelings for Nick forever, but she’s nothing like the glamorous women he dates. Then a funny thing happens. As they care for Mandy together, and as Bridget uses her skills to help him solve a case, it turns out she and Nick have a lot in common. In fact, their relationship could get serious. But is this fun-loving bachelor a candidate for happy ever after?

C.J. says of research: “As I was creating the perfect heroine for Nick, I decided that she should be someone who challenges him on almost every level. For this reason I made Bridget Humphrey not only a physics graduate from Harvard, but also a practitioner of numerology and astrology. Can you imagine how impressed Nick is going to be when Bridget tries to help him solve his most important case to date by calculating the victims life Path number?

In the season of miracles, anything can happen!

The Number 7 and The Inner Life

Many people consider the number seven to be a lucky number. Everyone has heard of the lucky 7 associated with games and gambling, a luck that comes and goes and is for the most part unreliable.

On the other hand, in many cultures the 7 is associated with the spiritual life, where it receives a high degree of respect. Though they seem to share a common number, luck and spirituality are two entirely different things, yet many people associate the 7 with luck in worldly matters. For those who have read my article The Desecration of Spirituality, you already know how I feel about spirituality in the material world.

The 7 is associated with spirituality because it is the number that represents the inner life, reflection, thinking, analysis, study, isolation, meditation. It has no bearing whatsoever on winning the lottery, getting a big job, or anything of a material nature. There are some cultures, particularly Eastern cultures, in which spirituality is highly valued, even revered above material accomplishment. This is not the case in Western society, which is above all else materialistic and focused on consumerism.

When the 7 is active in your numerology chart, either through your name numbers, or your date numbers, (pinnacle, personal year, personal month), you are likely to feel, at the very least, pulled to turn your attention inwards, to spend a little quiet time by yourself, maybe pick up a book, perfect your skills. In this quiet time, you may feel inspired as to how to deal with some of the circumstances in your life.

This does not mean however that this is the time to go out and manifest and make money and seek success in the world. The 7 is the number of reflection, study, and specialization. In a way, it is a required step before one seeks success in the world, for in order to attain success you need to tap into your potential. Your potential comes from within. The 7 will take you within.

I have seen many clients struggle during 7 periods, complaining that things aren’t moving fast enough, that they’re not making money, that they are not attaining the success they had hoped for. They are feeling lonely and isolated, and often confused. They are disappointed that there affirmations aren’t working, or that they are not able to manifest with intention, fully believing they have tapped into their inner Selves. This is a reflection of how outward bound Western thinking is. Repeating affirmations, although at times helpful, is not a spiritual process. It is a mental, intellectual activity. The same with focusing with intention on one’s goals. That is mental, not spiritual.

Although the inner life can greatly contribute to healthy outward expression, it is not an external process. As such, it requires a certain amount of trust in something that is intangible, a higher self, a guide, or whatever symbol represents greater wisdom for you. Those who can truly accept the guidance that comes from having a healthy and active inner life, find that the outer life not only seems to flow more easily, it also takes care of itself. A 7 period is an ideal time for cultivating and developing the inner life.

Being in a number 7 Personal Month, I will go to my yoga room now and indulge in a nice long meditation :-)

Responsability and the Number 6

Okay, I’m just coming up for air! It’s been a super busy number 6 Personal Month!  Between consults, phone calls from clients, my participation in the launch of Dr. Northrup’s new book, starting up the writers group and hosting a West Island Complementary Health Alliance board meeting, to helping out family members I managed to finish the final draft of my book. But I did take the time for acupuncture and massage! When there is number 6 current in effect, it is important to remember to take care not only of the other people in your life, but also of yourself.  The 6 is very much about balance.  Responsibilities can pile up and catch you by surprise, all the more reason to try to keep things in perspective. Its’s been a hectic month, but very productive and worth the effort!

A Harried 14/5 Personal Month!

I already miss the hardworking and focused energy of the number 4 from August! I’m have trouble keeping up with all the innovation brought on by the number 5 energy … a number 5 month, in a number 5 Personal Year, with a number 5 lifepath and birthday, and a few karmic debt 14’s in the mix … yikes! That’s a lot of change, innovation, advancement, adventure and experimentation! Much of my time has been spent at the computer, learning new software, learning about self publishing and POD and getting ready to launch a new book. Then there is always the “unexpected” aspect of the number 5; use a pencil when inserting events or activities in your agenda; very often they will need to be modified. Flexibility. Yes, I must be flexible!

Love that number 4!

Work, family, home and more work! Gotta love it!!! I know, boring…. but some people are quite comfortable with the routine of regular work, or irregular work, as mine is! As expected, I actually enjoyed switching gears from a number 3 month, July, into a number 4 month. (In case you are just joining this blog, I am in a number 5 personal year.) Workaholic–now you know my secret addition! Although I did decide that next summer I will be taking a whole month off. Yes. A one month long vacation…. yeah!

The reason I enjoy the number 4 energy so much is that it allows me to focus my creativity and inspiration into activities that are immediate and pretty much basic, which invariably leads to tangible results. To have number 4 energy all the time would become oppressive and no doubt lead to feelings of resentment and limitation, but now and then, its a great way to gage how your life is going. Simply look at what is working and what is not, then deal with what screams loudest!

Keeping track of your personal month numbers can be very helpful when planning your special activities as well as your regular workload. You’ve no doubt noticed that the months seem to bring a trend into your life. Some months seem to bring lots of opportunity, others seem to bring challenges. Check it out for yourself. You’ll see. I know, more work for you, but in the end, it makes it a whole lot easier when it comes to planning and organising your efforts. The 4 is the number of organization par excellence!

Ok, gotta get back to work!
