Year-end Wrap-up by the Numbers

More and more people are taking on the challenge of orchestrating and directing their lives. We’re applying all manner of clever plans, living with purpose and focusing with intention. But a natural consequence of this self-determination is that people are feeling not only increasingly responsible for the outcome of their lives, but also pressured to prove they are equal to the challenge. If you have visualized with intention and believed in your goals, you should have reached your goals, and you will have, if you have been following your natural cycles. One of the simplest and clearest is the 9-year numerology cycle.

Each of the 9 Personal Years can be used as signposts along a roadmap of sorts, indicating trends that last one calendar year. To calculate your Personal Year number, first reduce the numbers of your birthday and month and the calendar year to a single digit, then calculate the sum of these three numbers. For example, for a birthday on June 12th, calculate the Personal Year for 2009 as follows:

  1. Birth Month: June, 6th month
  2. Birth Day: 12, 1 + 2 = 3
  3. Calendar Year: 2009, 2 + 0 + 0 + 9 = 11
  4. Add the results for the Month, Day and Year: 6 + 3 + 11 = 20.
  5. Reduce the total to a single digit: 2 + 0 = 2. The Personal Year number for 2009 is 2.

Each of the 9 years has its own climate and tendencies. Much like planting tomatoes in June is more likely to produce a harvest than planting them during a January frost, choosing activities that are appropriate for your current trends will increase your chances of success during that year. Let’s see how you fared in 2009, and then, how you can get back on track if you veered off course, or pick up the pace and take advantage of your trends for 2010.

The 1 Personal Year This was a time of new beginnings, filled with enthusiasm and renewed energy. Did you make adjustments to outdated areas of life? Did you let go of old habits and behaviours? Start new projects? The 1 Personal Year is often experienced as an important crossroads.

The 2 Personal Year Personal and business partnerships typically come to the fore in a 2 Personal Year. A certain amount of flexibility is required as new projects begun last year begin to take shape. Did you foster cooperation, teamwork and receptivity in your relationships? These relationships will help you to expand your social network next year.

The 3 Personal Year Energy exploded, possibilities abounded, and what seemed previously guarded and tentative, no doubt began to bubble to the surface this year. Were you able to stay on track, or were you distracted this year? You may need to refocus now in preparation for next year.

The 4 Personal Year There are three keywords that accurately describe the 4 Personal Year: work, work and more work! If you attended to the details and responsibilities of home, family health and work, you will have established a solid foundation and are probably more than ready for next year’s growth spurt!

The 5 Personal Year Your routine probably got a little shaking up this year. If you had a strong foundation in place, this year was probably filled with adventure, expansion and new experiences. If you focused on marketing and promotion, next year should bear fruit. Don’t worry, you’ll get to catch your breath next year.

The 6 Personal Year The focus was on family and home life, and in particular, on all sorts of responsibilities, whether at home, in the community or in the workplace. This was a time for balance, peacefulness and service to others. As the year comes to a close, you can look back at all the help you have provided to those in need. Others will have appreciated your caring contribution.

The 7 Personal Year This was a period of temporary withdrawal from the hustle and bustle of worldly and material existence. You may have felt the need to take time out, gather up inner strength, study, deepen your understanding of life, or even question the nature of existence. You will be able to express your greater wisdom in the coming new year.

The 8 Personal Year This was the big year, the peak of your cycle, the culmination of all that hard work! You have now reaped the fruits of your labours of the previous seven years. With most of your focus was on career and accomplishments, you can now take a long term view of your next set of goals.

The 9 Personal Year This year wrapped up your current 9-year cycle. A 9 Year is often an important year in that it can mark an important transition period. You will no doubt have felt the need to wrap up and complete old projects, gotten rid of things–and even people–that no longer suit your needs. Next year, a brand new start awaits you!

By keeping the 9 Year cycle in mind when planning and goal setting, projects flow more smoothly. Knowing what to do and when to do it gives a greater sense of control and confidence, generally leading to a more positive outlook, all of which naturally contributes to increased success and more satisfactory results.
