Here is another simple soup, hardly needing a recipe. I love thick soups, in fact, I love all pea soups… must be the Lac Saint-Jean in me! 🙂 Served with homemade bread or, even better, cheezy biscuits, they make a meal in themselves. Perfect for Saturday lunches.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups
A while back, I treated myself to a wonderful new cookbook, But I Could Never Go Vegan. Since I’d been craving peanut butter–no idea why!–and, company was coming later in the day, I thought I’d make them a treat. This is a simple recipe and yes, very yummy! Chocolate and peanut butter… match made in heaven! And I have made it again, and again!
Kale Chips
A couple of years ago, my daughter gave me a bag of kale chips, which I promptly devoured in total amazement. Mmmmmm! After purchasing a dehydrator, I went out in search of recipes. Having played around with several recipes, this is the kale chip recipe that works for me–and for those dropping by my condo, from what I hear…:-)
Soupe aux Gourganes
Soupe aux gourganes, a real taste of Lac-Saint Jean! Years ago, my mom and I would shell huge bags of “gourganes” to make soupe aux gourganes, a very filling soup, perfect for chilly winter days. I was thrilled to find gourganes in the frozen foods section at Adonis. These hearty, flavourful beans are also known as fèves des marais, broad beans, wetland beans or fava beans, although I’m not sure that fava bean is an accurate name. These extra large beans turn brown once cooked, and have an almost beefy flavour, perfect with a grilled cheese sandwich.
Carrot, Tofu and Ginger Soup
This is one of my favourite cold weather soups. Spice it up with as much ginger as you like and let yourself be warmed from the inside out! Great with freshly baked wholegrain bread, rolls or crackers. This recipe is based on one found in the Vitamix Cookbook!
