By now, you may know how I love to try out new kitchen gadgets! I just finished making a new batch of sauerkraut with the pickle pipe and pickle pebbles. (See my post on sauerkraut for how-to.)

The MasonTops pickle pebbles offer a great solution for weighing down the veggies and keeping them under the brine, while the pickle pipe removes the need for “burping” the jars by opening the lids to release fermentation gases. It also allowed me to place the jars in a cabinet, which I could not do when I was using airlocks for wine-making. These required an additional 6 inches of head room above the jar, so I had to keep them on a side table in the dining room. Thumbs up from an avid fan of fermented veggies!
